Appalachia Trip Information

The 2018 plans have started!  Preparation for adult clearances should be discussed with the Youth Minister for St. Gregory Parish, Charlotte Zilavy at 412-260-5384.   Any member 18 years or older at the time of the trip require clearances.

All forms needed to prepare for the trip will be given to the members at the end of the year trip informational meeting.  All members will receive the date of this meeting via email.

The Appalachia Mission is a very popular, action based ministry that helps those in the Preston County area of the Appalachia region. The missionaries are not afraid of fun, hard work and witnessing to their faith. They are young adults and adults who are truly acting on their faith through their deeds, as part of their baptismal promise...for the bible says:

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.  If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?  In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
- James 2:14

Do you want to have fun? Get dirty? Be a witness to your faith for others? Oh, there is more, so much more!

This years trip is on its way already.  We cannot accept any more volunteers.  However, the 2019 trip plans will start in Sept. of 2018.   We continue to have fundraising efforts each month throughout the school year to have the financial needs for the trip.   The deadline to join the group is always the month of January prior to the trip, however you may still need to be on a waiting list if the number of participants is over our limits.  It is best to join the group in the summer, 1 year before the next years trip. (ie. Join in the summer 2018 for the Mission trip in the summer 2019)  All you need to do is email Charlotte Zilavy to join.  Please make sure you get a reply email stating that your email was received.  God Bless and if you cannot join us by going, there are so many opportunities to help back at home with fundraising, etc.    Just let us know if you are interested?
